100 hectares of forest area in West Sumatra Indonesia caught fire
Entering the 4th day, the joint team is still making maximum efforts to extinguish the fire that is burning in the forest area in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra Province, Indonesia. The hot weather and the lack of water sources made it difficult for the joint team to accelerate forest fire control. As of Friday (May 26 2023) officers were still working hard to extinguish the remaining three hotspots from the previously reported eight hotspots. Based on preliminary data, fires are reported to have destroyed 100 hectares of this conservative forest area.
To help accelerate handling, personnel in the field need help from professionals in the field of handling forest fires
