Flowering season, dragon fruit natural pollination at night in Indonesia
Now is the time for the dragon fruit cactus to bear fruit in Indonesia.
Footage from Aro Kandikir, Agam district, West Sumatra Province today (May 27), shows a dragon fruit cactus garden in the blooming season.
On the stems of these plants you can see flowers that will bloom at night, then gradually wither before becoming perfect fruit.
Additional footage shows a time-lapse video of the atmosphere at the dragon fruit cactus garden in the afternoon and at night.
According to the garden owner, when natural pollination occurs at night, white flowers will light up the garden.
"When the moon is bright, when the dragon fruit is in bloom, it looks like this garden is glowing," Rudi Rungak, the garden owner added.
Dragon fruit cactus is a night blooming plant and the flowers last only one evening. Some growers do hand pollination at night.
