Auxiliary community health center (Pustu) inPapasena One Village, Mamberamo Hulu District, Mamberamo Raya District, Papua Province, Indonesia, has been neglected for six years. It has not been functioning for years due to the absence of health workers (Nakes). The condition of the Pustu building looks apprehensive, the roof and walls have been damaged, while medicines are scattered in the room.

“This pustu has been empty for a long time. The orderlies and nurses were also absent. There are only health cadres here, said Zet Gofay, a resident of Kampung Papasena Satu, when met, Tuesday 9 May 2023.

So, continued Zet, when a resident gets sick, the village health cadre will take care of him. "Sepi Khu is the village cadre, he can inject, put infusions and give medicine, if someone is sick," said Zet.
So, if Sepi Khu's cadre is unable to do so, residents will have to find another way. If someone's illness gets worse, then they are brought to Kasonaweja.
Sepi Khu, who was met, admitted that he was only a health cadre, not a civil servant. The puskesmas or the official person only left the medicines, then left. "Later if someone is sick, then I will give medicine," he said.
Sepi admits that he can carry out the duties of an orderly because he has attended training. He also carries out patient examination procedures. Starting from blood tests, injections and drug administration. This includes referring patients to the puskesmas or hospital in the district capital when the head of the pustu is not available.
Regarding the pustu building, Sepi admits that it is an old building that is no longer in use. “It was built during the government of Sarmi Regency. The Mamberamo Raya government has not yet built a new Pustu," he explained.
Sepi hopes that the Mamberamo Raya District Health Office will take a more serious look at health services in the villages. He is only a non-PNS health cadre who is helpful. He also saw civil servants who were supposed to serve in Papasena but were absent and the burden was placed on him.
"For a while it's not a problem, but if you don't carry out your duties continuously, this is the question," explained Sepi Khu.
