A group of tourists have been criticised after flying a drone into a swan's head at a lake in Bole, Xinjiang.

Footage captured on May 24 shows a drone flying inches above two swans swimming at Sailimu Lake Scenic Area.

After the device circled the animals several times, one of the swans plucked the drone out of the air with its wing.

Mr Yan, the filmer who supplied the video, said: "The blades are very sharp, and once they hit the swan's neck, it may be fatal. At that time, I searched for a long time but did not find who was controlling the drone. After observing around, I found that the swan was not injured."

On May 26 the staff at the scenic spot stated that tourists can bring drones into the scenic spot to take pictures after reporting, but behaviours that provoke swans are not allowed.

The police in the jurisdiction stated that the swan was not injured. They have contacted the tourists involved and criticized and educated them.
