A woman was caught on camera brazenly stealing a bag of rice by wearing a black plastic bag as a disguise in broad daylight in southern China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Nanchang in Jiangxi Province on May 28 shows a woman loitering and observing outside the store while donning a plastic bag on her head. She then swiftly seized a bag of rice before making a hasty getaway.

The store owner, Mr Xiong, revealed that he didn't notice the robber as he was occupied with other tasks inside the shop. It was only when another customer came to collect their rice that he realised a bag was missing.

After reviewing the surveillance footage, he discovered that the rice had been stolen.

Mr Xiong expressed his frustration, stating that this was not the first time his store had experienced such incidents, leaving him feeling mentally exhausted.

Despite reporting to the authorities, he feels that the police are unlikely to take action for such a minor theft worth only a few dollars.
