This is the dramatic moment an old warehouse collapsed as Typhoon Mawar battered the Philippines on Monday.

Footage shows the building buckling as it was pummeled by the strong downpour in Santa Ana town, Cagayan province on May 29.

Local disaster officials said no one was hurt during the collapse.

Marion Miranda, head of the Santa Ana disaster office, said: 'The warehouse was quite old. It was made with wood and light metal, and since it was situated near the port where salt water always blew, the metal frame was rusty. The storm blew it down easily.'

Typhoon Mawar, known locally as 'Betty', entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility on May 27. It had spared the archipelago a direct hit, but was forecasted to enhance the prevailing southwest monsoon, bringing rains over the northern region.

Thousands of residents in the mountainous northern provinces were evacuated on May 29, with school and non-essential office work suspended.

Tropical Philippines sees an average of 20 storms per year. The Southeast Asian nation - ranked among the most vulnerable to climate change - grapples with devastating floods and landslides annually.
