This is the dramatic moment a landslide on a mountain road sent motorcycle riders scrambling for safety in the Philippines.

The drivers were passing through the rain-slicked path in Arakan town in Cotabato province on May 26 when rocks, trees, and soil tumbled down the slopes and blocked the road.

In his panic, a motorist left his two-wheeler behind to run to safety. A younger man offered to retrieve his vehicle shortly before another landslide struck.

No one was reported injured, but fallen trees had rendered the path impassable.

Authorities said the area was prone to landslides and that recent rains may have softened the soil.

The incident came a day before Typhoon Mawar entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility.
