An out-of-control car crashed into a ditch on a highway in Thailand.

The white vehicle kept switching lanes while travelling along Udon Thani province on April 10.

Dashcam footage shows the car nearly missing a pickup truck as it swerved to the left. It then fell into the dirt roadside and smashed through mounds of soil.

The vehicle reportedly carried a male driver and a female passenger with their dog. The woman injured her arm, but all of them were safe.

Driver Sutthipong Nontri, driving ahead of them, said: ‘It happened so fast. Someone called the police, and they responded immediately.

‘I hope everyone will be more careful on the road. It's a scary experience to witness.'

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools, cheap loans for cars, notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws as well as endemic corruption and chronic under-investment in infrastructure hamper the efforts.
