A Thai woman suffering painful sores all over her body blamed 'lack of sleep and bad food' for her agonising skin condition.

Golf caddie Kanyarat Promwong, 24, said she was left covered in bumpy red rashes after failing to take care of her health due to her work. Her skin soon began to break out with nasty hives that sometimes swelled, burst, and bled.

She consulted a dermatologist for what she believed was a simple skin disease. However, she was diagnosed with the autoimmune disorder, Systemic Lupus Erythematosus (SLE).

The disease is the most common type of lupus in which the immune system destroys the body's own tissues, causing inflammation that can affect internal organs, blood vessels, the brain, and the skin.

There is no cure for SLE, but its symptoms can be managed with medication and lifestyle changes.

Stricken Kanyarat was given steroids to suppress her immune response. However, her rashes continued to flare up.

She blames the illness on late nights and unhealthy food.

Speaking today, the young woman said: 'I became bedridden and unable to perform even basic tasks like going to the toilet alone. I felt guilty because I had to rely on my mum and I couldn't help her earn money. It was a difficult time for me, and I even thought about taking my own life.'

Still, Kanyarat soldiered through the hardship, and her condition has since improved slightly and she is able to move freely on her own.

She said she has been using both modern medicines and traditional remedies, as well as regulating her diet and sleep - something she had taken for granted before.

She said she had been selling clothes at a flea market since the age of 10 to help ease her mother's financial burden as her father had died when she was only three years old.

However, the hectic schedule had left her with barely any time to sleep.

The hardworking woman said: 'Our store would close at around midnight or 1 am, but I had to get up early for school. I also ate whatever I wanted and didn't bother to exercise. This went on until I graduated and began to work as a golf caddie.

'I hope that by listening to my experience, people would take better care of their health. Don't be like me. Eat healthy foods and exercise regularly. You never know when a severe illness could strike.'
