This is the moment a landslide tumbled onto steel bars along a mountain road during a storm in the Philippines.

Footage shows boulders and soil crashing onto the metal frame of a retaining wall being built on Kennon Road in Benguet province during a storm on May 31 morning.

The Tuba Municipal Police Station said in a statement: 'Due to continuous rains, a landslide occurred in millsite, Camp 6 in Tuba, Benguet. Kennon Road will be temporarily closed while Marcos Highway, and Asin Nangalisan-San Pascual roads will remain open. Residents and motorists are advised not to travel for safety reasons.'

A section of Kennon Road was also temporarily closed last May 10 after it was struck by another rain-triggered landslide.

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
