An explosion rattled the Severo-Labatyuganskoye field in the Surgut district of the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous region, Russia, as repair work was underway on a well. The incident occurred on 30th May, 2023, during which a fire broke out, damaging the body of the lifting unit of a car. Fortunately, the oil workers at the site managed to extinguish the fire before the arrival of the fire service, averting any casualties or injuries.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations reported that the fire had engulfed an area measuring approximately 0.5 square meters. Although the flames were successfully brought under control, investigators are now working diligently to establish the cause of the fire. The Severo-Labatyuganskoye field, being developed by Surgutneftegaz, is known for its significant oil reserves and plays a crucial role in Russia's energy sector.
