An overwhelming police presence descended upon Victoria Park in Hong Kong on the day of the Tiananmen massacre remembrance (June 4).

The renowned "Grandma Wong" (Alexandra Wong), who valiantly arrived with flowers and formed the symbolic "4" sign with her hand, the heavy hand of the law swiftly intervened, resulting in immediate arrests and the whisking away of detainees in waiting for police vans.

Within the very confines of Victoria Park, an organisation organised a China fair, showcasing mainland products, occupying the grounds that were once the hallowed site of the June 4 vigil.

Individuals were subjected to police stoppages, searches, and occasional detainments, igniting a frenzy within the media.

For the third year consecutively, any attempt to remember the Tienanmen massacre which took place on 4th June 1989, was quashed by a heavy police presence near Victoria Park. Any attempt to start a protest, such as the activist "Grandma Wong" (Alexandra Wong) showing up with flowers and forming the sign "4" with her hand was met with immediate arrest and the detainees were whisked away in police vans waiting nearby.

In Victoria park, a pro-China organization organized a China fair showcasing mainland products on the very location where the vigil of June 4th used to take place. The organizers denied any link with the vigil or attempt to occupy the grounds.

As the evening progressed, persons were stopped and searched by the police and occasionally detained which gave generally way to a media scrum. The police had deployed its counter-terrorism unit as well as two units of its newest "Sabertooth" armored vehicles made in China. These vehicles replace the ancient Unimog of German make, which were heavily used during the 2019-2020 protests.
