A pet cat had a staring contest with a friend before jumping into the pool.

Footage shows the nine-month-old Incheon standing still on the edge of the structure while looking in the direction of another feline in their home in Chiang Rai province, Thailand on May 27.

But soon after, Incheon decided to plunge into the water and swim towards the other cat, which quickly backed away.

Their worried owner was seen walking out into the room to check on the creatures before the soaked Incheon ran back inside.

Pet owner Jaratpong Ouytrakul said: ‘I heard the water splashing and I was scared that something might have happened. I let them out there because they can watch outside and have fresh air from the windows.'
