On the morning of June 5, a gas explosion occurred in a restaurant on Longyan South Road, Jinping District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province.

Footage shows the moment debris was launched across the pavement and street where several motorists were driving past.

According to a nearby merchant, at about 7:40 am, he suddenly heard a loud noise in the store, and when he went out, he saw an explosion in a restaurant about 100 metres away from his store.

A staff member of the Emergency Management Bureau of Jinping District, Shantou City said that the accident was caused by a gas explosion in a restaurant on South Longyan Road.

At present, the leaders of the district government and various departments are on the scene to deal with the incident.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. The staff revealed that the accident resulted in one death and six injuries. The injured have been sent to hospital for treatment.

6月5日早晨，广东省汕头市金平区龙眼南路一家餐饮店突发燃气爆炸，发生事故的商铺内有大量黑烟向外溢出，附近多家商铺受损，马路对面的一棵大树也被炸断，现场一片狼藉。
附近一名商户介绍，早晨7时40分许，他在店内突然听到一声巨响，出门看到距离他店子约100米远的一家餐饮店发生了爆炸。爆炸点附近烟雾很大，他无法靠近，也看不清现场情况，有途经现场的路人受伤。事发几分钟后，消防车和救护车就赶到了现场。
汕头市金平区应急管理局一名工作人员介绍，此次事故系龙眼南路上一家餐饮店发生了燃气爆炸，目前区政府和多个部门的领导都在现场处置，事故原因尚在调查中。该工作人员透露，此次事故导致1人死亡，6人受伤，伤者已被送往医院救治。
