The incredible images show Theda Bara who was one of the most popular actresses of the silent era and one cinema’s earliest sex symbols, Norma Talmadge who ranked among the most popular idols of the American screen in the early 1920s, and Mary Pickford who was one of the original 36 founders of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences who present the yearly "Oscar" award ceremony.
Other striking shots show ‘The Girl with the Bee-Stung Lips’ Mae Murray, 1920s leading lady of British silent films Annette Benson and Evelyn Nesbit who was also a model and whose face appeared almost everywhere in the early 20th century making her perhaps the first cultural celebrity.
