CAPTIVATING images and footage show giant elephant Equinox who somehow survives in the bush despite wildlife experts believing that he lost his tusks in an epic battle.

One image captured by a British National Geographic executive in Kenya shows the massive 40-year old bull elephant walking towards photographers with a small kink in his powerful trunk.

Another image shows the elephant's face looking so peaceful.

Footage shows Equinox stopping to graze for a while as the photographers watch on, unable to believe they got so close.

These moments were captured by retired Senior Vice President of International programming National Geographic Channels Jules Oldroyd (57), from London, UK.

Jules captured these images of Equinox in Amboseli, Kenya on her Canon R5, Jules knows how lucky she was to capture this giant.
