The video shows the heron riding comfortably on the back of the alert hippo who surfaces for a tiny moment only to ensure he is headed in the right direction.
Images of the same show the heron flying down and seated comfortably on a yawning unfazed hippo looking around possibly for some fish.
The video hilariously capture the understanding between the beast and the bird.
This video and images were captured by photographer Anton Oosthuysen (57) at the Kruger National Park, South Africa using a Canon 5D MK IV and a Sigma 150-600 mm lens.
Anton was just 60 feet away from the action and fondly talks about how comfortable the heron looked.
