A student at Jiangxi Nanchang Industrial Vocational and Technical College posted a video claiming to have found what appeared to be a "mouse head" while eating in the campus canteen. The canteen staff explained that it was actually a duck neck.

The video was filmed in Nanchang City in Jiangxi Province on June 1.

The official announcement from Jiangxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College on June 3, confirmed that the "foreign object" found in the meal had been identified by the person involved as a duck neck.

On June 4, staff members from the Nanchang Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau stated that on June 1, they had sent personnel to verify the incident and had the object tested by a specialised inspection agency. Although sometimes the appearance of things can be deceiving, after verification by the staff, it was indeed a duck neck.

Despite the prompt clarifications and announcements from the school and relevant departments, many netizens still expressed doubts. Subsequently, a netizen revealed that a staff member at the college allegedly requested students to write positive reviews online based on a provided script regarding the incident.

Multiple students at Jiangxi Industrial Vocational and Technical College stated that after the incident, the campus canteen and the implicated food counter continued to operate as usual. However, hardly anyone went to eat at the affected counter, and there were fewer people visiting the canteen these days. Many students opted to order takeout directly to their dormitories instead.

A netizen commented: "It sounds as if Chinese people are unaware of mice, and the clarification is quite humorous." While another person said: "How can a student defeat the school leaders?"

On the morning of Wednesday (June 7), the Jiangxi Provincial Department of Education responded to a reporter from Jimu News, stating that the relevant departments had already intervened in the incident.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
