A pair of wild bison stopped traffic along a cliffside road in Yellowstone National Park.

Footage shows the horned bovines tapping their hoofs on the concrete path as drivers turned their engines off to let them pass in Wyoming on May 14.

The animals didn't seem to mind the sedans queueing on one lane and went on their way, ignoring the motorists.

Traffic soon after resumed to normal when the animals wandered out of the mountain road.

Bison are one of the best-known animals in Yellowstone National Park. The park is home to the largest free-roaming bison herd in the United States, with an estimated population of over 5,000 animals.
