Wildfire smoke from Ontario, Canada's June 2023 wildfire affects the New York City area, including blighting the city's famous skyline here on Wednesday (June 7).

"New York City currently has the worst air quality of any city on the planet, and it's not really close," according to New York Metro Weather on Twitter, highlighting a graphic that shows the air quality to be "hazardous."

New York City's current Air Quality Index is currently 342, significantly higher than second place Delhi, India, which is currently 190, according to IQAir.

"This is the view from New Jersey of the New York City skyline. Typically you can see all of Manhattan from this rooftop that I'm filming on however you can barely see directly across from us as seen in the video. Surprisingly there was still a ferry out on the Hudson despite cancellations of outdoor events across the Tri-state area," the filmer said.
