This woman was left terrified after she attempted to leave a hospital in Elko, Nevada, but came across swarms of Mormon crickets.

Footage filmed by Mikayla on June 5 shows the pathway and walls leading out of Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital completely covered in insects.

The filmer told Newsflare: "I am terrified of Mormon crickets so I was trying to find an exit that was my best chance for when I had to leave. I was walking from each end of the hospital when I found the exit in the video.

"I have never seen anything like it.

"I knew for sure I was not going to leave through that door but had to take a video to show my family. They were shocked! The Elko area is used to Mormon crickets migrating through our town but many of us have never seen anything this bad before!

"To make it even worse, the crickets also covered the awnings over the main exits and would fall off. It was literally raining Mormon crickets!

"I saw people walk in and out with umbrellas, it was that bad. Three days later and we still have a lot of crickets left at the hospital."

According to local reports, millions of the crickets have descended on several counties in the state creating chaos for locals.

Jeff Knight, an entomologist for the Nevada Department of Agriculture, told local media that the crickets have a four-to-six-year cycle and their last was in 2019 so they are now back in 2023.
