Dramatic police footage shows moment yob driver leads cops on 80mph chase before being handcuffed while hiding in a shop
This is the dramatic moment a cop tells a drug dealer, "You're nicked!" after he rammed a police car following a terrifying 80mph chase.
Kym Aley, 20, was spotted driving a grey Vauxhall Astra erratically through the Eyres Monsell and Saffron Lane estates in Leicester.
Police pursued the car which hit speeds of 80mph in a 30mph zone as Aley weaved in and out of busy traffic.
At one stage, Aley narrowly missed ploughing into a cyclist as he desperately tried to evade cops on May 30.
Mid-way through the chase, Aley suddenly brought the car to a halt before reversing and ramming the police car.
Dashcam footage shows two young men leap out of the rear passenger doors before Aley screeches off once again.
He then mounts a kerb and careers over a grass verge and a pavement before finally dumping the car in the Newry area of the city.
CCTV captures Aley abandon the car on a path before sprinting down an alleyway.
The badly damaged police car is seen pulling up and an officer sets off on foot.
Footage from the police officer’s bodycam shows him running after Aley.
The officer’s colleague tells him on the radio: “He’s running by the shops now and he’s just gone into the Premier.”
The cop asks: “Roger. Description?”
The operator replies: “Grey tracksuit, bodywarmer.”
The officer is then seeing storming the shop where he spots Aley pretending to tie his shoelace by the checkout.
The cop tells him: “Hello mate, you’re nicked. Give me your hands.”
When he was searched officers found drugs and a machete was also recovered from the car.
He admitted possession with intent to supply class A drugs (cocaine), possession of a bladed article, dangerous driving, driving without a license, driving without insurance
and failing to provide a specimen.
Aley, of no fixed address, was jailed for 30 months at Leicester Crown Court last Wednesday (29/6).
He was also given a 38-month driving ban with an extended re-test.
