Balai Gakkum KLHK arrested 2 perpetrators of buying and selling Sumatran tiger skins and tusks. From the two perpetrators, officers secured 2 pieces of skin and 4 tiger tusks.
The two perpetrators arrested were JI (37) and YW (29). Meanwhile, the other perpetrator, Al (43), is still a witness after being arrested on Monday, June 5 yesterday in Pelalawan.

"Initially we received information that there would be a transaction of tiger skins. Based on that the team checked and it was true that it was suspected that they would be buying and selling tiger skins," explained Region II Gakkum Investigator, Supriadi at the Pekanbaru KLHK Office, Thursday (8/6/2023).

The team then secured the suspect. They then interrogated the perpetrators about the whereabouts of the skin which was still in storage at that time.

After intensive examination, the perpetrators finally submitted evidence to be sold. The evidence is in the form of 2 skins and 4 tiger tusks.

"After being interrogated, 2 tiger skins and 4 tiger tusks were found to be sold," said Supriadi.

The two actors with the initials JI and YW are sellers. JI plans to sell tiger skin and tusks with help from YW after getting them from someone. "These two are sellers, this is an initiative of JI and Y to help sell. They also get from people who are being chased," he said.

For skin and fangs, the plan is to sell Rp. 60 million. Both admitted that they were desperate to sell because a buyer had ordered the organs of this protected animal, aged around 5 years.

"They plan to sell two pieces of IDR 60 million. They said there was a buyer, but we couldn't and the owner is still being pursued," said Supriadi.

After being secured, the two were named suspects and detained at the Riau Police. JI is registered as a resident of Tanjung Jabung Barat, Jambi and YW, a resident of Indragiri Hilir.
