STORYLINE:
A group of 40 international students from 24 countries visited a mega bridge in China's Guizhou, as part of their six-day tour in rural areas of the province.
The Pingtang Bridge is located in Bouyei-Miao Autonomous Prefecture of Qiannan.
The cable-supported viaduct, as part of an expressway, spans 2,135 meters across a canyon.
The main tower in the middle of the bridge has a height of 332 meters, as tall as a 110-floor building.
SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): LAIBA TEHREEM, Pakistani student in China
"I have never seen such a bridge. It's so high. There are also famous bridges in Pakistan, but none is as high as this one."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): SANAZ ASADI, Iranian student in China
"When we were driving on the bridge, it was very long and very high, but we were not afraid because it's very safe. What can I say? The bridge's design is very impressive."
SOUNDBITE 3 (Chinese): RUCHIRAPORN PAENGCHANTUEK, Thai student in China
"I take photos and videos everywhere I went during this trip and send them to my friends in Thailand, because they didn't have the chance to come and study in China like me."
Guizhou is known as "the museum of world bridges" due to the vast numbers, various types and complex technologies of the bridges built over the decades.
The Pingtang Bridge has reduced the travel time between Pingtang and Luodian from over two and a half hours to about one hour.
It has also facilitated travel and development in the region since its opening in late 2019.
SOUNDBITE 4 (Chinese): YUVRAJ SINGH, Indian student in China
"China has built many bridges and roads to improve people's living standards. More importantly, they bring benefits not only to urban residents but also to rural residents."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Guiyang, China.
