Locals pulled a huge python out from under a car in Sihanoukville, Cambodia, on June 10.

The worried driver noticed the beast's tail poking out from under the door when he returned from a nearby shop.

Footage shows animal handlers dragging the snake out before putting the 12ft long beast into a sack as shocked onlookers recorded the reptile.

Onlooker Bong Ly said: 'The snake was so big. I never even saw one this big in the countryside. It was unusual to see a snake like this in the city.'

Locals believe the python had emerged from a nearby canal in the rapidly-developing city, which in recent years has seen an influx of Chinese drugs and sex trafficking cash which is laundered through the city's casinos.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
