British adrenaline junkie 'Shard Climber' has been arrested after free-climbing a 555m skyscraper in South Korea.

George King was detained while attempting to climb the Lotte Tower in Seoul.

King made headlines around the world after he previously scaled London's iconic skyscraper The Shard.

Before his ascent he told reporters that he wanted to "evade Korean authorities and get on a flight out of the country, immediately after performing the stunt"."

After making it three-quarters of the way to the 73rd floor, he was apprehended by Korean authorities.

The stunt took one year to plan and it started when he was locked up in HMP Pentonville after being arrested for climbing the Shard.

Now in custody in Korea, he is awaiting trial in two days.

In a statement before the stunt, King said: "This is the most exhilarating stunt I've ever done. "

"The climb is fraught with danger, and if I pull it off, I have to get out of the country asap to avoid arrest. "

"The weather has been on and off for a couple of days but I'm ready."

The footage was captured on June 12.
