A Chinese tech startup has unveiled a manned 'flying saucer' aircraft designed to transport tourists in China.

Shenzhen iUFO Technology showcased the UFO-like electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft during a test flight at the the Shenzhen Nanshan Low-altitude Economy Investment Promotion and Industry Development Forum held in Shenzhen, China, on June 3.

Three years in the making, the eVTOL features a six-hole duct structure and 12-blade electric motor, and can take off from both land and water.

Holes on the aircraft's rim show the powerful blades propelling the vehicle into the air.

It has a flight capability of 15 minutes, allowing for manual or autopilot operation. It can also reach a maximum altitude of 200 metres and achieve a speed of 50 kph.

The driver's cabin is a transparent domed compartment at the centre of the 'saucer', offering the pilot a 360-degree view of the surroundings.

The eVTOL aircraft has obtained a global invention patent and will mainly be used for tourism and advertising purposes, Shenzhen iUFO Technology said.
