A man died after being violently assaulted in Derby, England, on Sunday (June 11).

Emergency services rushed to Bass Street at 3.45 pm following reports of an assault. Despite attempts to save him, the man died at the scene.

The man's death is being treated as "suspicious" and a murder investigation has been launched.

"Forensics officers are at the scene. Three blue tents had been put up within the cordoned area. A car was also covered by one of the tents", said the filmer of this clip.

Derbyshire Constabulary released an update on its website which states: "Windmill Hill Lane is currently closed between Cross Street and Bass Street, and Bass Street is closed between Windmill Hill Lane and Peel Street. The roads are likely to be closed for some time. Anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed an assault, or with any information, CCTV or dashcam footage, should contact us on the details below".

Derbyshire Police have launched a murder investigation after a man died following a serious assault on the 11th June 2023. Police were called to Bass street, Derby at around 15:45 on Sunday. Despite attempts to save him the man died at the scene. Police are currently treating his death as suspicious and a murder investigation has begun. Forensics officers were at the scene on Monday 12th June where 3 blue tents had been put up within the cordoned area. A car was also covered by one of the tents. A neighbour speculated that recently released "peados" were being housed in a nearby probation hostel and believed it could have been to do with someone attacking them for that reason but this is not confirmed. He also said that this is the second murder in the area in the space of 5 years. Police are asking for anyone with information to come forward and quote 754 of 11 June.
