STORYLINE:

Violent clashes erupted on Sunday between the Sudanese Army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) in several areas of the capital Khartoum, shortly after a 24-hour truce between the two sides ended.

The clashes took place mainly in three adjoining cities of Khartoum, Omdurman and Bahri.

A video clip obtained by Xinhua showed the Sudanese Army ground troops deploying along Al-Halfaya bridge, which links Khartoum and Omdurman.

The most recent 24-hour truce, brokered by Saudi Arabia and the United States, became effective on Saturday morning and ended on Sunday at 6 p.m. local time.

Sudan has been witnessing deadly armed clashes between the Sudanese Army and the RSF in the capital Khartoum and other areas since April 15.
