A car collided with a toll booth facility, causing a huge fire and killing four people in eastern China.

Video filmed in the city of Hangzhou in Zhejiang Province on June 5 shows a white car entering and passing through a toll station without any signs of deceleration.

It then directly crashed into the exit barrier, causing the vehicle to spin sideways. Within a matter of seconds, the car burst into flames, and the fire quickly intensified.

Despite the valiant efforts of toll booth staff and passing drivers who rushed forward with firefighting equipment in hand to rescue the occupants, the ferocity of the blaze prevented any successful rescue attempts.

Eventually, the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames, leaving behind a scene of utter devastation.

The vehicle involved in the accident has been identified as a Volkswagen ID.4 X, a fully electric SUV.

On June 9, the automaker involved in the incident responded, stating that the vehicle was travelling at a speed of 71.15m/h at the time of the collision.

Further details reveal that all four victims, including the driver, were male. The vehicle was a ride-hailing car, with the driver frequently accepting orders from a platform to transport passengers from Hangzhou Xiaoshan Airport to downtown Hangzhou or neighboring cities.

The responsible party from Hangzhou Mingde Car Rental Company, the company to which the vehicle belonged, expressed that no record of the incident order was found on the platform, suggesting that the driver may have taken a private order.

The exact cause and responsibility for this accident, whether it was due to vehicle quality issues, driver health factors, or on-site handling, will only be determined once the police investigation concludes.
