Emergency services have descended on Nottingham city centre following reports of a "major incident"."

Members of the public have been urged to stay away from several roads, which were cordoned off this morning (Tue),amid several ongoing incidents.

Police, paramedics and fire crews all raced to the scene while public transport services were halted.



National Inter-Agency Liaison Officers, set up following the Manchester Arena bombing, were also in attendance dressed in purple body armour and helmets.

It is not clear what has caused the massive emergency response but there have been unconfirmed reports on social media of multiple casualties being treated.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said: "Officers and other emergency services are currently in attendance at an ongoing serious incident."

"There are multiple road closures in place throughout the city while the incident is being investigated."

"We are asking the public and motorists to please avoid the following areas and plan alternate routes."

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service said it has "multiple fire engines" at the scene."

The Nottingham Express Transit (NET) tram network also said it has suspended all services due to "major police incidents around the city and suburbs"."

Nottingham City Transport added: "There is severe disruption and delay to services this morning because of a police incident in the City Centre, where Milton Street, part of Upper Parliament Street (Theatre Square – Maid Marian Way), Burton Street and part of Mansfield Road are closed."

Ilkeston Road, Milton Street, Magdala Road, Maples Street, Woodborough Road,
Maid Marian Way and Parliament Street remained closed.
