A kind passerby helped return a fish flapping on the road back into the river.

Somchai Malaiwong was driving home when he noticed the black creature in the middle of the road in Samut Prakan province, Thailand on April 26.

Footage shows the tiny four inch-long fish waggling on the concrete to reach the edge of the road. It appeared to crawl towards the body of water until Somchai caught it and picked it up.

The local then tossed it back into the river, and it swam away. He said he was confused about how it became stranded.

He said: ‘There were no people around. Maybe it jumped out for some reason, or a bird caught it, and it escaped.'
