Lights sway as magnitude 6.2 earthquake rattles homes in the Philippines
Lights swayed as a magnitude 6.2 earthquake rocked homes in the Philippines on Thursday morning.
Video shows chandeliers swinging in houses in northern provinces - including Nueva Ecija, Bulacan, and Metro Manila - as the tremors struck the country's main island of Luzon on June 15.
The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said the earthquake struck northwest of Calatagan town in Batangas at 10:19 am local time.
It was recorded at a depth of 103 kilometres, and was felt in nearby provinces, including the capital Manila.
Train lines around Metro Manila were temporarily suspended due to the tremors, the Department of Transportation said.
PHIVOLCS said damage and aftershocks were expected.
The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
