A huge motorway sign struck an oncoming car when it was blown away by strong winds.

Dashcam footage shows the billboard sailing through the air before landing on the car travelling along the highway in Bangkok, Thailand on June 14.

The shaken driver Jenremy Benyaras said she had just dropped her kids off at school when the flying banner hit her car's windscreen.

She said: 'At first, I thought the glass was going to break, but I was lucky it didn't shatter despite the impact. It's good that the car is mostly okay.'

Jenremy said the company that installed the sign has apologised to her following the accident.

She said she has filed claims with the insurance company to pay for the repairs.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools, cheap loans for cars, notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws as well as endemic corruption and chronic under-investment in infrastructure hamper the efforts.
