Cyclone Biporjoy caused massive floods on a major road in Bhuj, in the Indian state of Gujarat, after it battered the country with ferocious winds and pelting rain.

The incident occurred on Lakhpat Road, located in the Nakhatrana village.

The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officers patrolled the area to ensure safety.

The main highway from Bhuj to Lakhpat road in Nakhatrana village of Kutch district, located in western India's Gujarat, was left heavily flooded due to rainfall caused by Cyclone Biporjoy.

This happened on June 16.


Visuals showed the heavily flooded road where water gushed through as a result of the heavy and continuous rainfall due to the severe cyclone. The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) officers were patrolling the road to ensure that no mishap takes place as the cyclone wreaked havoc in the state. People who had ventured out for whichever reason had to take shelter underneath the sheds of shops to stay away from the flooded road and rainfall.

The NDRF officials have been engaged in evacuation work in several areas of the district as heavy rainfall continued to pose a threat for the people. Cyclone Biporjoy made its landfall in the west Indian state and wreaked havoc, uprooting several trees and damaging electric poles. Plus, 23 animals were killed as a result of the cyclone with many people suffering injuries.
