Buy video

This is a timelapse video of Noctilucent clouds above Cockenzie on the banks of the Firth of Forth in East Lothian, Scotland. Despite being close to Edinburgh, there was little in the way of light pollution as the night clouds performed their show. These clouds are visible when ice crystals form high in earth's atmosphere and the sun reflects under them. It was 1.20am in the morning when these clouds formed, meaning it is late nights or early mornings for sky watchers.
