STORYLINE:

An ancient village featuring ceramic culture in Handan City, north China's Hebei Province, has regained vitality thanks to the local government's renovation efforts in recent years.

Zhangjialou Village used to be a major raw material supplier for Cizhou Kiln, a folk kiln style created in the Northern Song Dynasty (960-1127).

Many buildings were constructed with materials recycled from the process of ceramic firing. Elements of ceramic culture can be seen in almost every corner of the village.

After renovation, the village has become a rural tourist attraction with historical buildings and ceramic culture well-preserved.

"I run a homestay here with my husband. We offer accommodation and meals. Our business has been good since the opening, especially on holidays and weekends, we welcome a constant stream of tourists. We have benefited from tourism at home."
