Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas's visit to China indicates that the Arab world welcomes "active and influential" Chinese involvement in the Palestinian cause, an Arab League (AL) official has said.

"The visit of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to Beijing comes at a time of great importance for the Palestinian cause, for the development of Chinese-Palestinian relations, as well as for the progress and development witnessed by Chinese-Arab relations in general in various fields.
President Abbas's visit to China takes a special dimension with regard to the Palestinian cause, which faces grave challenges amid the continuous and prolonged stalemate in the peace process.
These challenges require a Chinese position that equals the role China plays in the world. People across the world are betting on China's position and its wise policy in dealing with issues of peace, stability, and development in the world.
The Palestinian people and the entire Arab nation view the Chinese position with respect and appreciation for the support provided by China to the Palestinian cause.
We hope that these Chinese endeavors to solve the Palestinian issue, which are supported by Arab countries and the Arab League, will take a wider space within the framework of China's extensive relations, cooperation network, interests, and great visions at the world level."

The Palestinian president paid a state visit to China from June 13 to 16.
