The State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) came to the aid of an elderly man who slipped and fell into a barrage, getting stuck in it in northern India's Uttarakhand.

This happened in the channel of Rishikesh Pashulok barrage in Dehradun district on June 18.

Visuals showed the SDRF officials at work as they saved the man who was trapped. Two officers helped him out of the waters by using a rope that was pulled by their comrades. He was seen being escorted on the shoulders of the soldiers and taken into an ambulance. The man, identified as Jagannath, bled from his injuries, mainly on his head and was taken to the AIIMS for treatment. It was learnt that Jagannath had fallen into the river before the barrier and gotten stuck. He had also reportedly called out for help.

The officers who took part in this rescue operation were, Inspector Kavindra Sajwan, Chief Constable Arjun Panwar, Chief Constable Kishore Kumar, Constable Prakash Mehta, Constable Matwar Singh, Constable Sumit Negi, Paramedics Amit Kumar and driver Sur Singh.
