A father and his two sons fled from their overheating car as its front tire emitted smoke.

The trio were about to reach home when the parent noticed plumes fuming on his side in the driver's window in Kanchanaburi province, Thailand, on April 21.

As soon as they reached their street, the driver pulled over in front of their house, with the boys quickly following him behind before the quick-thinking dad sprayed water hose on the vehicle.

CCTV footage shows the family escaping from the smoking pickup truck before it was doused with water.

The boys' mum Saranya said: ‘It was so hot that day. It reached 40 degrees Celsius in our province. I think that contributed to the overheating brake pads.'

The car was towed to a repair garage, and the family escaped the car unscathed.

Saranya added: ‘My kids were safe. I hope it becomes a lesson to everyone who drives with their children.'
