This is the dramatic moment miners fled in panic when a landslide caused by heavy rain crashed down a quarry in Indonesia.

The workers were gathering stones from the site in the Cirebon Regency in West Java when a huge chunk of land suddenly crumbled from the nearby hill on Monday, June 19.

Footage shows the landslide roaring towards the quarry, sending the miners fleeing for their lives. The tumbling debris kicked up a massive cloud of dust as the men drove their trucks to safety.

Senior Commissioner Arif Budiman, chief of police in Cirebon, said: 'The cliffs were hit by landslides after they were battered with heavy rain at night.'

Police officers were dispatched to the site for an inspection, he added.

Authorities said there were no casualties from the landslide and the mining company had begun securing the areas.

Indonesia is at the start of the annual monsoon rainy season that sees torrential tropical downpours for several months.
