Gaurav Anand, a 46-year-old in eastern India, found an innovative solution for water hyacinths. He makes unique sarees out of them, providing employment to rural women.

Saree-making takes place in Santipur city, West Bengal. Water hyacinths harm aquatic life and water quality. Previously used for items like mats and paper, Gaurav elevated it by making sarees. He aims to increase the water hyacinth quantity to 50% for sustainability.

So far, he has made 50 sarees and plans to make 1,000 more this year, improving the economic status of 10 weaver families and employing 450 women.
