The Canadian Air Force on June 20 dispatched a CP-140 Aurora aircraft built to hunt submarines to search for the Titanic tourist submersible that went missing while exploring the Titanic wreckage.

In a statement, the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre Halifax said: 'JRCC Halifax continues to assist MRCC Boston in support of submarine search efforts 380 NM south of St. John's, Newfoundland and Labrador.

'The Royal Canadian Air Force CP-140 Aurora aircraft from Greenwood, NS will provide continuous on scene support with additional aircrews and assets.

'The Aurora provides surface search and sub-surface acoustic detection capabilities.'

The vessel Titan with five people onboard was deployed off the coast of Newfoundland in Canada, on a trip to the wreckage of the liner but lost contact with its supporting ship on Sunday, June 18.
