A hapless stray dog was rescued after falling into a dirty pool in a cemetery twice.

The brown pooch was spotted by visitor Davika Tangcharoen who was on her way to a mausoleum in Chonburi province, Thailand on May 24.

It struggled to swim and climb up on the narrow lotus pond while its friend barked at it from a mound.

Davika grabbed the creature from the water and was saved before it ran frantically away and fell into another pool again.

Footage shows the dog being saved twice before it ran off with another pooch. It was soaked in black lotus water but appeared unhurt.

Davika said: ‘That dog was super clumsy. I hope that after I have saved it, it will take good care of itself and not fall into another hole.

The landscaped garden with two long but narrow pools is inside a cemetery that Davika visited.

She said: ‘There weren't many people. The dog was lucky I happened to be there that time. It would have died from starvation and exhaustion if it wasn't found.'
