A lucky pet cat survived falling from the fifth floor of an apartment and landing on a truck parked below.

The plump 18-month-old Persian cat named Mochi had been walking along the balcony when she slipped and plunged from the building in the Sena Nikhom area of Bangkok, Thailand before dawn on June 19.

Miraculously, Mochi, who weighs around 10 lbs, survived with no severe injuries despite smashing into a pick-up truck's windscreen and shattering it.

The loud noise jolted cat owner Bambi, 19, from her sleep. She searched for her missing pet, only to find it was no longer in the apartment, having plunged down five storeys.

Bambi said: 'I saw the news of another cat falling from a condo last month. Today, our pet cat did the same thing.

'The truck owner was very kind. I originally had to pay 10,000 baht (287 USD), but they reduced it to 6,000 baht (172 USD). We are lucky they didn't demand more. But I am most relieved that Mochi is safe.'

The fur mum said Mochi liked to sleep in cool air, so she let her outside on the balcony. She said she had just moved into the apartment 10 days ago, but is now searching for another place - this time with fenced balconies to keep Mochi from falling again.

Mochi survived the ordeal with an abrasion on its chin, but no fatal injuries. The cat was energetic and enjoyed playing with its toys like usual, Bambi said.

Last May, a portly feline named Shifu also survived a fall from a different condo in Bangkok. Shifu, who weighed a whopping 19lbs, walked away with two broken nails whe she landed on a sedan's windscree that broke her fall.
