This cafe in Thailand has become an unlikely hit - making intricate ice lollies with a pattern matching an iconic temple's stupa.

The Arun Cafe located within the Wat Arun temple grounds in Bangkok has become popular among proud Buddhist locals and even tourists for the artistic ice lollies they offer to customers.

The cold, sweet treats are molded with a floral geometric pattern resembling the design of the temple itself. Siamese locals are particularly proud of the temple, which was built in the 17th century.

Shop owner Namtarn said: 'The origin of this ice cream stems from my fondness and passion for Thai art and culture, combined with my love for indulging in ice cream, so I wanted to fuse these things into what I like.

'I selected ice cream because it is easily accessible and suitable for Thailand's hot climate. It is also well-suited for tourism, as I have a strong desire to promote Thailand's tourism.

'The design was inspired by the tiles found on the temple's stupa, which were inspired by the four flowers. The creator meticulously arranged colourful tiles, along with Benjarong or Chinese porcelain, and even shells.

'I aim to encourage people not only to visit and capture photos with the stupa but also to develop a genuine interest in and explore the exquisiteness of the stupa and its connection to the identity of Wat Arun.'

The pretty ice lollies come in Thai tea and coconut milk flavours, and are available for 89 THB (2.6 USD) each. Part of the cafe's profits are used donated to the monks for use in healthcare and education, Namtarn said.

The Arun Cafe can be found at the Wat Arun Temple in Bangkok on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River and is open from 8 AM to 6 PM.
