This is the heartwarming moment a rescue team freed a stray dog with its head stuck in a jar.

The dirty white pooch had been running around a village in Surin, Thailand, with the plastic container on its head for several days.

Concerned residents called animal catchers fearing the dog might die from starvation and dehydration.

The rescue team arrived at the village on June 16 and found the white male dog hiding in a bush, visibly emaciated from days without food.

The officers cautiously surrounded the animal and attempted to approach it discreetly, but it was startled and ran off into a nearby alley.

After a brief 10-minute chase, the specialists finally caught the stray and pulled the plastic jar from its head. It was seen running away into the forest after being released.

Resident Janya Sornkla, 41, said: 'The jar was stuck on the dog's head for more than a week. We tried to catch it ourselves, but it was quite fast and managed to escape every time. I don't think it has an owner. It's been roaming around here without anyone claiming it.'
