A Kent port that helped to pioneer and establish a rapidly growing unaccompanied new freight ferry route between Calais, France and Sheerness, UK is to lose the route to an Essex port.

DFDS established the rapidly growing route with the help of Port of Sheerness, Kent to Calais, France over the last two years - bypassing congested Dover, but DFDS now plans to move the service which uses ferry Botnia Seaways to rival port Tilbury in Essex at the start of next month due to customer feedback.

The existing vessel - Botnia Seaways, filmed leaving Sheerness this morning (June 21) and berthed yesterday (June 20) - will be transferred to the new route of Tilbury to Calais at the start of next month (July).
