The show must go on! Marching band continues performance through flood
A determined school marching band continued their performance despite floods swamping the venue following a sudden downpour in the Philippines.
Lively pupils from the Magallanes National High School twirled their batons and beat their drums, unfazed by the waterlogged venue at the Sadow Festival Drum and Lyre Competition in Agusan del Norte province on June 18.
Bopping along to English singer Sam Smith's 'Unholy', the majorettes knelt and even lay on the dirty water in an admirable display of showmanship.
Onlooker Quincy Rivera said: 'The band was very impressive. I didn't expect them to lie down on the floor of the court since it was wet, but they did it anyway.'
The band's performance earned them first place from the judges.
The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are approaching their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
