In the Czech Republic's town of Chynov, a lesbian couple of white storks has attracted attention by jointly caring for their chicks on the 5th of June.

This is the country's first recorded instance of a same-sex pair among these migratory birds. The two female storks nested together and took turns laying a total of eight eggs.

Ornithologists suspect that the eggs are unfertilized, as no males were present. However, one chick hatched, and two more followed. The fate of the stork father remains a mystery.

Genetic analyses will be conducted to determine the chicks' maternity, but it is likely that only one of the females is the mother.

Unusual nesting cases, such as this one, are rare but occur naturally in the animal kingdom. Human activity can influence such behavior, and nature continues to surprise us with its diverse phenomena.
